Yanks call up 2, put 3 more on DL

With three players sent to the disabled list and two replacements added from within the organization, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees significantly overhauled their lineup and bench on Monday.

Outfielder John Rodriguez and infielder Justin Leone were each placed on the disabled list because of hamstring injuries, while catcher Kevin Cash went on the DL with a sore shoulder.

To help fill the holes, middle infielder Luis Nunez was brought back to Triple-A from High-A Tampa, and outfielder Richie Robnett was promoted from Double-A Trenton.

Nunez arrived roughly two hours before the Yankees' doubleheader to find his name already in the lineup as the starting second baseman. Robnett played an afternoon game in Trenton, left when it was over and arrived at PNC Field after the first Triple-A game had started.

It's the loss of Rodriguez that seems to hurt the Yankees the most. The veteran left fielder was making his case as an International League all-star, but injured himself running out a double on Saturday. Leone felt his hamstring tighten while running to first on a groundout Sunday.

Cash went on the disabled list one day after playing third base for the first time this season.
