Pedestrian hurt by pickup truck

SCRANTON - A woman was injured Friday when she was struck by a pickup truck outside Mercy Hospital.

Donna Boyd, no age or address listed, was crossing the 700 block of Pine Street about 10:15 a.m. when she was hit by a Ford pickup driven by Bradley D. Glynn, 27, of Clarks Summit, as he turned left from Jefferson Avenue, police said.

Mercy emergency room personnel rushed outside, placed Ms. Boyd onto a gurney and wheeled her into the hospital, police said. She was later transferred to the Community Medical Center trauma unit with a broken wrist, contusions and lacerations.

Does not tell us that she was coming back from a smoke that is when it took place all those people that smoke and work for a hospital should be fired even when they are working they go on break and smoke that is wrong take care of the sick not your smoking

Hmmm - I have NEVER ONCE seen a speed trap in here scranton. People drive through our neighborhoods at terrifying speeds knowing they can do whatever they want and nothing will ever happen. I fear all the time for my children. It is a real shame...

I work at Mercy and know Ms. Boyd. I am not surprised someone got hit. The driving habits of people in this city are awful. If you stand in the walkway over Jefferson Avenue at Mercy, you can see the number of idiots that run the stop signs. People don't care. They are just in a hurry. I guess getting to your destination is more important that facing the possibility of injuring or killing someone. There are stop signs for a reason! Hey, maybe, the Scranton Police should ticket all the people who don't come to a complete stop at a STOP sign. The city could be out of debt in about a day and a half.

Not to belittle your exaggeration, but how is it possible to get up NASCAR style speed around the Mercy when people are double parked, cabs stop wherever they want, cars are gridlocking everyone getting into the garage, and cars parked helter skelter in the no parking zones?

The poor woman! Not making any accusations about THIS driver, since the details aren't out -- but she's lucky she survived at all the way people drive in this neighborhood. It's a miracle there aren't kids and grown-ups killed all the time -- people race in and out of this RESIDENTIAL neighborhood like they were on a NASCAR track. You take your life in your hands to go out on Scranton streets any time of day.
