TUNKHANNOCK - One of two women accused of neglecting a mentally challenged woman in their care pleaded guilty Tuesday in Wyoming County Court.

Jill Hillard, 36, of Tunkhannock, was charged with neglect of a care-dependent person while she was an employee of ARC of Wyoming County.

Another former ARC worker, Kimberly Holzlein, 27, is still awaiting a court date.

In May, Ms. Hillard and Ms. Holzein were charged following an incident in which a mentally challenged woman was served feces as pudding and urine as lemonade in September 2008. The incident was alleged to have happened at an ARC group home at 15 Birch Drive, Tunkhannock Twp.

In court Tuesday, Ms. Hillard's attorney, Chad Salsman, noted that while Ms. Hillard contributed to the incident by urinating in a beverage bottle intended for the client, the bottle was never actually served to the woman.

Judge Brendan Vanston told her she faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Her sentencing date has not been scheduled.

This makes me ill. How can someone treat another human being in such a manner? These two women are mentally sick and need help.

THE OBSERVER,Since you have something to say on EVERY post on this website, maybe you should pay attention to WHAT you are writing a little more. This story does not deal with the elderly, this story deals with someone who is mentally challenged. BIG DIFFERENCE.

THE TREATMENT OF OUR ELDERLY SHOULD BE ONE OF OUR PRIMARY GOALS IN A CIVILIZED SOCIETY. IS THIS REPORTED INCIDENT BY THESE HEALTH CARE WORKERS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS RARELY OR IS IT JUST PAR FOR THE COURSE. MAYBE ITS TIME TO CLOSE ALL FACILITIES INVOLVED IN SUCH BEHAVIOR, SINCE THE OWNERS ARE THE ONES ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CALIBER OF CARE OF ITS RESIDENTS. WHOSE WATCHING THEM? ISNT THERE A LEGISLATOR WHO TRULY CARES ABOUT THE ELDERLY AND THEIR CARE. FAMILIES OF THESE UNFORTUNATE INDIVIDUALS SHOULD STORM THEIR REPRESENTATIVES OFFICES TO MONITOR AND CORRECT THIS OUTRAGEOUS BEHAVIOR BY THESE WORKERS.

Very simple. This woman should be put on the same diet that she fed to that victim. Scumbag is too good a word for her.
