Judge Nealon received highest retention vote total

While both Lackawanna County judges seeking retention this week were successful, bragging rights for the highest rate of voter approval go to Lackawanna County Judge Terrence R. Nealon.

Judge Nealon received 31,880 "yes" votes, while the other county judge winning a new 10-year term on the bench, Judge Michael Barrasse, received 31,438 "yes" votes, according to Lackawanna County unofficial returns.

Of all votes for Judge Nealon, 81.3 percent voted to retain him, compared to 77.4 percent of votes to retain Judge Barrasse.

By comparison, in 2007, President Judge Chester Harhut's "yes" retention vote was 78 percent and Judge Trish Corbett's was 84 percent.

Because of transcription errors on election night, charts of vote totals for judicial and Scranton city races in Wednesday's editions of The Times-Tribune included some numbers that varied from the county's unofficial tally. None of the discrepancies affected the outcome of races. The Times-Tribune will republish the charts with final numbers when official election results are certified.

Corbett is a hypocrite too. He lectures about the questionable ethics of public officials, but when he was openly promoting and supporting Hillary Clinton in the presidential primary, he never disclosed to his listeners that his wife was a paid consultant on the Clinton campaign payroll. Talk about a conflict of interest and lack of ethics!! What a phony!!!

Great to see that you appreciate Judge Terry Nealon and gave him such a high retention rate.

Steve Corbett is a joke. I have friends in the news media and they say that no one in their business considers him a legitimate journalist or newsman. Bill Kelly of WVIA exposed Corbett as a fool about a month ago on a Channel 44 show and made Corbett look like the idiot he is.

I've never heard a person say a positive thing about Corbett. He brags about what a great newsman he thinks he is but he's terribly uninformed on the issues and hangs up on callers when they start to pick apart his arguments with facts. He's desperate for callers and likes to make outlandish statements in a dire attempt to generate calls. I stopped listening to that loser months ago.

I AGREE -- HE IS A BLOWHARD. NEALON IS THE MOST RESPECTED JUDGE ON THE BENCH FROM HIS COLLEAGUES. CORBETT HAS NO IDEA HOW HARD SOMEONE WORKS. HE WAS THROWN OUT OF HARRISBURG IN THE LATE 70'S I KNOW BECAUSE I LIVED DOWN THERE IN THOSE DAYS - WE SHOULD IGNORE HIM AND MAYBE HE WILL GO BACK TO HIS HIPPIE ROOTS OF CALIFORNIA.

Steve Corbett ranted for weeks urging his radio audience to vote no on Nealon and Barrasse and they got 81.3% and 77.4% yes vote despite a judicial scandal in the next county. It shows what political clout Corbett has in this region---ZERO. What an irrelevant blowhard. LOL

One Carney foe; Gov neutral

They are starting to emerge. The names of Republican candidates who might take a shot at knocking off Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Carney next year are popping up after months of a virtually blank field. We heard a half dozen names this week, but so far co
