Need a hand or able to lend a hand for those in need during the holidays? Check this weekly listing of holiday giving programs.

The Catherine McAuley Center Adopt-A-Family Program: Applications for the Adopt-A-Family by appointment only, call 342-1342. Bring photo I.D., family member Social Security cards, mandatory proof of income (current printout from welfare office, three months of pay stubs and/or current statements of SSI or SSD, statement of child support, stubs from support checks).

Toys for Tots: Applications for children to receive toys through the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive accepted by volunteers from Catholic Social Services of Lackawanna County, Nov. 9-13, 9:30-11:30 a.m., and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the Carbondale office, 39 S. Main St., for families residing in Jessup and north; and at the Scranton office, 516 Fig St., for those residing south of Jessup; bring photo ID, verification of income and Social Security/Access cards for all in household, and recently dated proof of address.

Family-To-Family Thanksgiving Food Basket Program: Donations of $25 or whatever can be given, goes toward purchase of 2,700 baskets containing the ingredients for a family Thanksgiving meal to be distributed Nov. 25 at the Scranton Cultural Center; send to: Family-To-Family, 444 Orchard St., Scranton, PA 18505.

Community Thanksgiving Celebration: Volunteers and donations for 33rd annual community dinner for elderly, lonely and less fortunate, Nov. 24, 6 p.m., Scranton Cultural Center, call Sister Mary Alice Jacquinot, Friends of the Poor office, 348-4428 or 348-4429. Send cash donations to: Thanksgiving Community Program, Penn Security Bank, 526 Cedar Ave., Scranton, PA 18505.

Eye Care Specialists/Entercom Communications Head Start Program family coat collection: drop off new and gently used coats for children and adults at Eye Care Specialists offices through Thanksgiving.

Scranton Rescue Mission's Ladies Auxiliary: Donations of $5 and $10 gift cards for local businesses and phone cards to be given to Thanksgiving services and dinner attendees. Send to: SRM Thanksgiving, c/o Sheila McDon-ough, 114 Gravity Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.

The Catherine McAuley Center Adopt-A-Family Program: Local families/businesses/organizations to be matched with needy families in Lackawanna County to provide food, clothing, toys and other gifts.
