Lockheed Martin completes tests

ARCHBALD - Lockheed Martin successfully completed the first in a series of flight tests of an updated laser-guided bomb kit, the company reported.

Navy flight tests in California reflect positively on the Paveway II guidance package, according to Lockheed, which makes the apparatus in Archbald. Last November, Lockheed received a $30 million Pentagon contract to deliver the enhanced Paveway precision-guided system, which is expected to improve weapon accuracy and reduce unintentional casualties.

Lockheed employs about 500 people at its plant in Archbald.
