Lockheed lands $16.5M Navy order

ARCHBALD - Lockheed Martin has received a $16.5 million order from the Navy for laser-guided training ground kits.

The company, which is based in Bethesda, Md., and employs 580 people in Archbald, said the order is an extension of a $114 million 2005 contract and will bring production of the training units to more than 50,000 through 2010.

The kits allow military pilots or units on the ground to use lasers to direct "smart bomb" training rounds to targets.
