Pam Savitski is trying to rejuvenate the borough's defunct Lions Club. It folded about a year ago, she said.
"They were very active in the community," she said. "They did great community service."
Representatives will host a meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Borough Building for anyone interested in joining an Archbald/Eynon chapter of the club. They'll be there to take questions and provide membership applications, she said.
Mrs. Savitski is a member of the Blakely/Peckville Lions Club, she said.

Fancy hats and favorite tea cups are welcome at an upcoming fundraiser at Valley Community Library in Peckville.
The library will host a social tea at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, complete with cakes and sandwiches, said Lisa Kozlowski.
"This is a new idea," she said. "It's a fun way to interact with adults."
Mary Barna is organizing the event, and proceeds benefit the library, she said.
There will also be a basket raffle. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased at the library. For more information, call 489-1765.

Chana Manarchuck, Pat Morell and Adam Tomaine were recently honored by city council for their volunteer work.
The three assisted with maintenance of the Welcome to Carbondale signs by painting flower boxes and planting new flowers, Ms. Manarchuck said.
"I love to do it," she said.
The flowers were arranged in a flowing design that makes them look like waves, she said.

Pat Brennan was one proud parent when she watched her daughter, Jane Gaughan, receive recognition at Loyola University's Honors Convocation during Parents' Weekend.
"I was just so proud that she was singled out in her whole (major)," said Ms. Brennan.
Jane was honored for excellent sophomore-year work in advertising and marketing, said Ms. Brennan, who attended the ceremony with her son, Paul Brennan, 16, a Dunmore High School student.
"She's doing a great job at school," Ms. Brennan said. "She works hard."
A Dunmore resident, Jane, 20, is a 2007 graduate of Scranton Prep. She is currently completing her junior year at Loyola.

For 30 years, David Dunsmore and Grant Genzlinger have been carving pumpkins together.
And they've enjoyed every minute of it. "My friend does some amazing work," Mr. Genzlinger, owner of the Settlers Inn, said.
To celebrate Halloween, the two friends will be hand-carving pumpkins at the Settlers Inn starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
"There is no contest, no judging - everybody just has fun," Mr. Genzlinger said.
The annual event will also feature storytelling and a dinner. This year's stories will be provided by the Uphill String Band.

Karen Jaggars' Group Child Care has become the first Keystone STARS facility in Wayne County to earn STAR 4 status.
That's the highest rating in the state program.
"It's an honor. It's so wonderful," Mrs. Jaggars said. "It's something we've had to work hard to do."
Mrs. Jaggars has operated the child care center, which also offers after-school programs, for 21 years.
And the 21 years have been both rewarding and enjoyable, Mrs. Jaggars said.
Mrs. Jaggars said the state program and recognition helps improve her program though financial and other supports.

Moscow
In addition to photographs, owners of I'mage Photo Studios in Moscow also have some awards to hang on their walls.
Debra and Bruce Morgan opened their business about three years ago and are members of the Guild of Professional Photographers of the Delaware Valley.
They recently snagged top honors in the Guild's Fall 2009 Image Competition for best portrait of a child. Mr. Morgan called his photo of a smiling boy in a hockey mask "Toothfairy's Dream."
The Morgans are no strangers to photography awards. Last year, one of their glamour session photos won "Best Folio" in a Guild competition.
Old Forge
A recent fundraising activity at McDonald's raised $500 for students at Old Forge Elementary School, said Kathy Sallavanti, a teacher and member of the Devil Pride team.
The money will go toward the school's Devil Pride program, which rewards students for displaying positive behavior.
"We are going to buy prizes for the students and also use the money for our monthly reward days, one every month," Mrs. Sallavanti said.
Teachers and administrators greeted customers and served up food during a McTeacher's Night on Oct. 7.
The school received 10 percent of gross sales from 5 to 8 p.m. that night, in addition to proceeds from basket raffles held during the event.

For a week, about 20 residents at Clarks Summit Senior Living personal care home spent hours in the kitchen.
All together, they made 600 pumpkin chocolate-chip muffins, according to the community relations coordinator Doreen Salt.
All of the muffins were wrapped and donated to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen.
"We wanted to do things to make the community more aware of who we are and what we do," Ms. Salt said. "The residents baked a few dozen each day and then we froze them until they were all ready to be delivered."

Taylor
In the borough, Election Day has become synonymous with Texas wieners.
As residents cast their votes on Tuesday, Nov. 3, the Taylor Fire and Rescue Ladies' Auxiliary will hold its fourth annual Election Day Texas Wiener sale.
The sale runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. inside the fire station, 117 Union St. - across from the Borough Building.
"So many people vote at the Borough Building, so we thought it was a real convenient place," said Rebecca Buffton, the auxiliary's treasurer.
Wieners are $1.50 each and topped with sauce, which is homemade by a firefighter's father.
The group did not hold the sale last year, but is eager to return to one of its biggest fundraisers. About 700 wieners were sold the last time around, Ms. Buffton said.
Proceeds from the sale benefit firefighters by buying equipment or paying for training courses, she said.
