Bar, Bench hold 28th meeting
Attorneys Dan Cummins provided the civil law update, Gene Talerico, criminal law update and Bonni Shelp, family law updage, when the Lackawanna Bar Association conducted its 28th annual Bench-Bar Conference at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center.
The yearly event hosted by the bar association to provide attorneys and judges with continuing legal education was attended by more than 130 attorneys, according to Jason Morrison, the bar association's executive director. The conference also offers judges and attorneys the opportunity to engage in dialogue outside the courtroom.
Judge Vito Geroulo presented a session on judicial and attorney ethics.
At a judicial forum, in which Judges Geroulo, Michael Barrasse, Trish Corbett, Chester Harhut, Robert Mazzoni, Thomas Munley and Terrence Nealon participated, attorneys and judges discussed common issues and potential solutions.
"We are fortunate to have a strong willingness and commitment between the judges and attorneys to work together, because it ultimately ensures that the most efficient process remains in place for the administration of justice in Lackawanna County," Jason said.
The bar association hosted a networking reception immediately following the program.
The Healey Center
