That road is jinxed. There have been so many people killed on 267 in the Lawton area just in the last few years. Now three more crosses.

I am starting to think that there are about a dozen unemployed arse-wipes who must have lost everyone in their miserable lives who used to listen to them... that squat on this site with the purpose of spewing their sewage that we end up reading. How did the Doherty haters miss this article? He must have had a hand in it as well.

Leave these poor people alone

This is a perfect example of being "ready" because accidents happen everyday. There isn't anything sadder then losing a child AND your wife and your mom (speaking for the living children). I know. If you have a relationship with Jesus Christ, you will see them again and "to be out of the presence of the body is to be in the presence of the Lord". I hope they knew HIM. This is a very sad time for both families. My prayers are with both families.

Ohhhh MY. I cant believe the people who are on the cell phone kick with such a horrific, HORRIFIC tragety. If I recall working in that area, there is no cell phone service in that area!! People, it was an accident and lets give our thoughts and prayers to the poor families involved. I could'nt imagine. My thoughts go out to the emergency responders that reported to the accident.. This is not something that is easy to deal with either!

There's nothing to say about this accident other than it is terribly tragic.
Correct me, but I didn't see anything in the article about either driver being on a cell phone... maybe something happened with Ms. Pifcho's vehicle that caused her to loose control. However,
I think it should be illegal to do ANY THING while driving that includes talking on a cell, drinking a beverage, eating, listening to music... whatever. When you're behind the wheel of a vehicle, driving it should be your only concern. I pray for these families.

She was not on the cell phone, she hydroplaned. It's a very sad situation. 1 kid dead 2 families ripped apart. Hopefully Mike will be ok enough to lead his family. I know in our current America we feel there should always be someone to blame but sometimes things just happen, good or bad we are left to deal with these things in a positive manner. None of us should be saying who was at fault or on a cell phone unless you pried it out of Lisa's cold dead hand. Stop speculating and get your head out of your a$$.

I live in ny state where there is a law against using a cell phone while driving also texting, it must have terrible years ago to drive without a cell phone. Ieven though there is a law in ny there are many stupid drivers the don`t care and are seen using thir phones wile driving, you really can`t tell if they are texting because they hold the phone lower , as you can tell that they have no respect for the law of their fellow drivers I don`t know if there is a number to call to report the license number of anyone you see doing that but there should be, i would gladly pull overf to the side and call it in.

This is obviously a terrible tragedy. Hearts and prayers go out to all involved.

On the issue of cell phones and other distracted driving now so common, something MUST be done. There are far too many 'lost control' accidents these days, under normal conditions, that have no apparent explanation. NEPA area has many two lane roads which make it all the more hazardous. Police, insurance companies as well as lawmakers must take action. The public must also be educated.

I'm curious whether that poor baby was rearfacing or not. There is significant evidence that children should remain rearfacing until age 4, or the limits of safety seats. There are seats out now that will accomadate up to 45 pounds. Please folks, do not rush to turn your children forward facing!

Someone please tell me how this tragic incident needs to become a heated debate over cellphone use? Get a life! Peoples lives were lost! REALLY! There is no service in that area! HELLO!
My prayers are with these families.
heated debate! 09/28/09 11:55
but who is to say anyone was on the cellphone? always jump to conclusions and blame something instead of dealing with the real problem which is 4 kids left with out a mother, cause i believe Lisa had 2 children of her own.

Great point Mike!!! I too feel cell phones are the cause of way too many accidents that go left unchecked.

My heart aches for everyone involved in this accident. Although I don't know any of them personally, I can't imagine the pain that both families are feeling. Please keep them in your prayers.
K 09/28/09 09:16
I agree totally! Driving demands full attention with no distractions. It may not have been the cause of this accident, but a "no cell phone use while driving" law would save countless lives.
Also, route 267 is locally known as a speedway. There are no speed limit signs and no enforcement of any speed limit...EVER! It is common for traffic to travel at speeds up to 70 mph on this road and it has gotten very scary with all of the heavy equipment and large trucks from the gas well drilling work taking up more than their fair share of the road. I've lived 2 miles from where this accident occured for 2 years and have NEVER seen a police car in the area!!!

There is no cell phone service up there, however that road is well known for speeding and accidents. Another family ripped apart by someone in a hurry.
Jen 09/28/09 08:34
For Gods sake, would someone please answer only one question? Was Ms. Pifcho on her cell phone at the time of the accident? Law Enforcement needs to check cell phone records of every fatality to check this fact. In my opinion, I think the statistics would be staggering and the use of cell phones while driving would be banned and strictly enforced. Try this test. As you are driving today, take notice to any oncoming vehicle that catches your attention by crossing the yellow line and correcting or for any other reason being a little eratic. Then pay attention as they pass you and see if they are on a cell phone. 9 out of ten that catch your attention for swerving or other reasons, will be on the phone. Something needs to be done...
