Hazleton altercation leads to shooting of 2

HAZLETON - Two men were shot after an apparent altercation in downtown Hazleton early Saturday, Hazleton police said.

A 23-year-old from Lattimer Mines and 19-year-old from Hazleton were treated at Hazleton General Hospital for gunshot wounds after the 1:35 a.m. incident in front of FG Cantina on North Wyoming Street between Green and Maple streets, police said.

The 23-year-old, who was shot in the lower abdomen, was then flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown with internal injuries, police said. The 19-year-old was shot in the upper left leg, police said.

One of the men was leaving the bar, while the other was entering, police said.

That's Hazleton for you. All these young males running around with nothing better to do than fight and shoot each other. Maybe if we had more programs and jobs in this area we could better this place.
