A 19-year-old man was in critical condition Thursday after being hit in the head with a brick Wednesday evening on Church Street in North Scranton, city police said.

The man, whose name was not released, had bruises on his head and bleeding in his brain, Lt. Joseph Arbie said.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit at Community Medical Center.

According to police, two people heard a commotion about 8:45 p.m. and went outside to find the man unconscious and bleeding from the head on the lawn of 1436 Church St., which was described as an abandoned home.

The injured man was taken into an apartment next door at 1438 Church, where a resident called police.

Police said the man told ambulance personnel he had been hit in the head with a brick, and officers found a brick at the scene.

Capt. Carl Graziano said information was limited because investigators were not immediately able to interview the victim.

But there is no crime in Scranton, just ask the Mayor or Chief Idiot

Another violent crime in the city that the Mayor denied was increasing when he ran for re-election. It seems like it's every day incidents like these are occuring. What's your answer to this Chris? Is this the result of your economic development plan?
