This week, staff writer Megan Walsh talks with Tammy Galavitz about the upcoming Parents Loving Children Through Autism (PLCTA) Craft Fair.

Q: Tell us about PLCTA.

A: PLCTA is about providing support and encouragement for families that are raising children with autism. PLCTA is also about education. PLCTA will hold meetings, workshops and conferences to bring the latest information available to parents raising children with autism. PLCTA provides a place where each child will be accepted. Through our social clubs and monthly trips we hope to help foster social interactions. PLCTA provides a supportive environment where everyone is respected and held in the highest esteem. We stand in unity, loving each other through autism.

Q: Will there be activities or events other than the craft fair itself?

A: Yes, there will be a Chinese auction with various baskets and crafts. There will also be a bake sale. Autism merchandise will be available for purchase.

Q: What kinds of food will be available at the bake sale?

A: A wide variety of homemade baked goods including Welsh cookies, apple cobbler, cupcakes and pies.

 

Q: How much money are you hoping to raise?

A: We hope to raise about $1500.

Q: How will the proceeds be used?

A: The proceeds will be used to provide monthly trips and social clubs for children with autism. The proceeds will also be used to provide training, education and support for parents raising children with autism.
