What we're reading

Here are the most requested children's books in the Lackawanna County Library System. The complete list is available online at www.thetimes-tribune.com.

1. "Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy" by Jane O'Connor: Nancy is wishing for a small fashionable puppy but her parent's have their eyes on a big dog.

2. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" by Jeff Kinney: An older brother knows that secret that is contained in the diary of Greg Heffley, our wimpy kid.

3. "If You Were A Penguin" by Wendell Minor: The 2009 Pennsylvania One Book Every Young Child selection.

4. "Junie B, First Grader: Boss of Lunch" by Barbara Park: Wacky hijinks are bound to happen when Junie B. Jones becomes a lunch lady.

5. "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" by Laura Joffe Numeroff: Popular book by the author of "If You Take a Mouse to School."

Lackawanna County agrees to keep prison vendor's public records secret and approves new contract

The medical care provider for Lackawanna County Prison has agreed to make detailed financial records available to the county under terms of a nondisclosure agreement - a deal that will deny public access to records the state has determined the county may
